Product Description
Common use

Maxolon is a specific blocker of dophamin and serotonin receptors. It has anti-vomiting, soothes hiccup, stimulates and regulates work of gastrointestinal tract. Tone and motor activity of the digestive organs enhance. Secretion of stomach does not change. There are notifications that this medication promotes healing of ulcers in stomach and duodenum. Maxolon is used as anti-vomiting drug, nausea caused by narcosis, radiotherapy, side effects of different medications (medications on basis of foxglove, cytostatic drugs: ones to suppress cell division, antibiotics etc.), diet violations, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), diabetic gastroparesis (delayed gastric emptying).



Dosage and directions

To treat GERD Maxolon in adults is usually taken four times a day by 10-15 mg, 30 minutes before each meal. For treatment of Gastroparesis 10 mg of Maxolon are administered orally four times daily, 30 minutes before each meal and at bedtime. The tabs should be swallowed without chewing with a big quantity of water.



Precautions

Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages. Do not stop taking this medication without your doctor's permission and do not take it in qualities larger than prescribed to you. Inform your doctor about all medications and herbal products you use.



Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, when this medication is injected ability to concentrate on driving and operating machinery may decrease as Maxolon affects ability to high concentration of attention. Cautiousness should be experienced in patients with bleeding or blockage in the stomach or intestines, epilepsy or other seizure disorder, or an adrenal gland tumor (pheochromocytoma), kidney or liver disease, congestive heart failure, diabetes, or a history of depression children younger than 14 y.o.



Possible side effect

Besides signs of allergy (hives, swelling of tongue, face and rash) side effects may appear as tremors, or restless muscle movements in your eyes, tongue, drowsiness, restlessness, tremor, fatigue, anxiety, insomnia, depression, seizures, fever, stiff muscles, confusion, sweating, jaundice, depression. If you experience this stop taking Maxolon and seek for immediate medical help.



Drug interaction

Maxolon is able to change absorption and effects of other drugs that are absorbed in the small intestine. It accelerates effects of alcohol, diazepam (Valium) and cyclosporine, decreases the concentrations in blood of digoxin (Lanoxin) and cimetidine (Tagamet). Maxolon is contraindicated to administer in patients who are treated with MAO inhibitors: isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), tranylcypromine (Parnate), selegiline (Eldepryl), and procarbazine (Matulane). Co-administration of anticholinergic drugs can decrease the effectiveness of Maxolon. Other medications may also interact wit Maxolon: bronchodilators, atropine, cyclosporine, digoxin, acetaminophen.



Missed dose

If you missed a dose take it the soonest. If it is almost time of your next dose just skip it and return to your regular dosage schedule.



Overdose

Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, confusion, tremors or uncontrolled muscle movements in face or neck, or seizure. If you think that took too much of Maxolon and experience symptoms listed above contact your doctor immediately, you may need a medical help.



Storage

Store at room temperature between 59-77 F (15-25 C) away from light and moisture, kids and pets.
